Introduction
Formerly known as the Construction Industry Training Authority, the Hong Kong Institute of Construction has more than 45 years of experience in providing training in Hong Kong. To align with policies and tie in with developments in the community, Hong Kong Institute of Construction was established in 2018. It aims to nurture accomplished talents with sound professional skills, theoretical knowledge, safety awareness, innovative ideas, passion and pride for the construction industry of Hong Kong.
The one-year and two-year full-time courses of HKIC are designed for students and young people in mind with the intention of nurturing knowledge-based skilled technical personnel. Currently, all one-year and two-year full-time courses of HKIC have been recognised by the Qualifications Frameworks (QF) at QF Levels 2 to 4 and align with the Hong Kong education system, charting a clear pathway for students to pursue further studies. Whole-person development module, basic competency subjects, site practice, safety training, etc. have been incorporated into the relevant programmes for students’ whole-person development. To align with industry development and market needs, HKIC has incorporated into the programmes the latest construction technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), drones and robots. HKIC has also set up Approved Technical Talents Training Programmes to provide graduates with a comprehensive articulation pathway so that they can plan their further studies and career development goals with greater flexibility.
The School of Professional Development in Construction (SPDC) under HKIC provides high-quality, market-driven professional education and development programmes including courses on construction digitalisation, industrialisation and construction industry innovation and state-of-the-art technologies. The programmes not only enable industry practitioners to obtain professional or recognised qualifications, but also enhances the leadership culture, productivity, project quality and outcomes, enabling the local construction industry to achieve sustainable development in the future.
The construction industry underpins, as it always has, the development of Hong Kong’s economy. It is expected that construction output will continue to steadily increase in the future, meaning that demand for knowledge-based skilled technical personnel will only grow. We hope that you will join our big family and become a construction professional like no other.

Logo design
Our logo uses the same colour scheme of green, grey and dark grey as the logo of the Construction Industry Council. Its design embodies the ancient Chinese cosmic view that the sky is round and the earth square. It is also a representation of the mortise and tenon joint found in traditional Chinese wooden structures.
The square base signifies the fact that HKIC is founded upon a solid foundation formed by professional skills and knowledge. The glittering and translucent column in the centre, together with the green dot, represent progress and hope with which we lead our students towards success and distinction.
Our logo is designed by renowned Hong Kong designer and artist Mr Stanley WONG, also known as anothermountainman. Since 2000, Mr WONG has been creating a series of artworks inspired by red-white-blue nylon canvas, creating positive energy for Hong Kong.
